Ah! Life grows lovely where you are!

September 30, 2009

There’s no doubt about it – I’m an Autumn girl.  This is the time of year where I feel more and more myself and I breath a little easier.  The air is crisp and clean and the sky a lovely shade of blue.  I want to spend all day laying in the cool green grass with my eyelids closed.  The leaves are starting to fall in the Wilson Woods and it’s slowly, ever so slowly turning into bonfire weather.  Is there anything better?

These were my views today….  enjoy. :)

And of course, if I’m outside, so are the pups.  I just had to share a few of them!

Boone has a thousand different facial expressions and I LUV it when I catch a shot of him running… ears a’flappin and a huge grin!  How can you not adore him!!

Randoms

September 25, 2009

I’ve spent some time today going back through some of my old files, deleting and making some room on my hard drive…  and I found some new old favorites.  A little bit of random for your day. :)

Grit & Grace

September 24, 2009

It’s Thursday and I feel as if I haven’t accomplished a single thing this week! I’ve sort of taken a week off to rest, read, renew…  all things that I sorely needed at the moment.  I’ve read three books in three days, cooked a wonderful date-night meal for my hubby, cleaned my house top to bottom, found the bottom of the laundry basket for the first time in weeks and took a long walk with the dogs down the dirt road.  It’s just that time when I’m sort of avoiding the rest of the world for a minute, in order to make time for me.  I rediscovered a couple of quotes I like…

“The most invisible creators I know are those artists whose medium is life itself. The ones who express the inexpressible – without brush, hammer, clay or guitar. They neither paint nor sculpt – their medium is their being. Whatever their presence touches has increased life. They see and don’t have to draw. They are the artists of being alive.” – J. Stone

“Away she hurried, not beautiful, not supremely brilliant, but filled with something that took the place of both qualities – something best described as a profound vivacity, a continual and sincere response to all that she encountered in her path through life.” – E.M. Forrester

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more.” – Melody Beattie

Happy weekend!  Enjoy it!

She brought so much beauty to being human | Statesboro, GA Photographer

September 17, 2009

In one of my random moods, I called Liz to see if she would hang out with me for the afternoon and take a few pics…  only a quick thirty minute shoot, I promise!  Yeah, well…  anyone who knows me KNOWS that ain’t gonna cut it. *L*  I really did mean to keep it short… but…  I was having way too much fun walking around campus with this beautiful gal and thirty minutes turned into two hours!!  Yikes!

Thank you, Liz for being such a good sport and getting the chance to spend a little ‘alone’ time with ya! ;)  Hope you enjoy!

Celebrating 50 Years | Valdosta, GA Photographer

September 17, 2009

This past Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing Mark’s 50th Surprise Birthday Party in Valdosta, GA.  Karen and Mark are family and I was thrilled when Karen whispered to me one afternoon, asking me to come and take pictures of the evening.  I love a good secret, and of course I said yes!  It was such a fun evening!!  And the best part – he honestly didn’t have a clue what she was planning all these weeks.  (Now, how my beloved cousin kept a secret for this long is beyond me…. and anyone in the family will probably agree with me!  Love ya, Karen!)

The party was held at Two Friends Cafe - the place was decorated beautifully and the food was incredible!!  I’m telling you, the almond creme pie was to die for!  :)  After we surprised Mark at the door, we enjoyed a few cocktails (not me – I’m working, folks!) and dinner.  Then Karen had everyone sit down to watch her gift to Mark – a slideshow of images from his lifetime – a gift of remembrance, she said.  She said she wanted him to remember what an incredible life he’s had.  It was wonderful, heartfelt, funny and sweet.  We all enjoyed it!  It was such a treat to see so many people there who loved Mark and Karen and wanted to celebrate this important birthday with him.

So, here are a few of my favs from the night, and the slideshow to follow!  Happy Belated Birthday Mark!!  Hope you enjoy!
