I’m a lucky girl… {Statesboro, GA Portrait Photographer}

August 27, 2009

Since starting in my photography business I’ve had to call upon friends, relatives and total strangers that I sneak up on in public places to model for me.  It’s a tough thing to build up a portfolio of work when you’re still a newbie, but luckily…  I’m a lucky girl (that totally made sense in my head!)! :)  I’ve got the best friends in the world!  Totally willing to jump right in and help out in anyway necessary.  Well.  Most are totally willing.  Others, like Josh here, have to be begged, pleaded with and annoyed within an inch of their lives before they agree.  But, I’m a persistent girl… and sometimes cute, which helps.   So, Josh agreed to help a gal out and we scheduled a session one afternoon.  He made the long drive down from Augusta, GA and we had a totally great idea for some shots…  had the location scouted out, the props loaded in the truck…  everything was looking goood…  except… the weather.  WHAT??  Can someone please explain to me why Mother Nature and I are never on the same page??  Yep, it rained.  Yucky, gray clouds covering my sky…  and I usually would brave it, but I didn’t want to ruin the props he brought, and the loveseat I had… so I had to scrap the idea.  *sigh*  I’m sorry, Josh, for putting you through the wringer.  Hopefully, one day you’ll forgive me and we can reschedule…?

We did sneak out for five minutes and grab just a few shots…  totally worth it!  Thanks again!!!

R. Family – {Savannah, GA Portrait Photographer

August 17, 2009

Ever have one of those moments where you do something that is totally not in your nature?  Where you sort of step outside of yourself and someone else takes over, propelling you into a situation that you usually would never find yourself in?  That’s what happened to me yesterday in downtown Savannah.  I was walking through Forsyth Park, scouting new locations to shoot, and I saw this adorable family taking pictures by the fountain.  There were four girls, all dressed in different color sundresses and they looked so lovely!  I don’t know what possessed me to walk over to their parents and introduce myself, but I did, and I asked if I could take a few photos of the girls.  They were the sweetest family and were so good natured about this random stranger coming in and interrupting their day!  *L*  I took a few quick shots of each of the girls and I have to tell ya… they are just gorgeous!  Really talented girls who are all studying music and I was so impressed.  Here are a few that we got in that quick ten minute shoot!

Thanks again, R. Family, for humouring the crazy photographer girl!!

He chews sticks

August 12, 2009

Yes… my dog chews and eats sticks.  He isn’t so much into the whole ‘fetch’ thing, but if you throw a stick for him, he will go after it.  But forget about the whole bringing it back routine.  Instead, he retreats to his favorite tree to lay down in the pine straw and proceed to chew and devour said stick.  And then, if I’m lucky (and I’m lucky ALOT, it seems) later on he will produce the chewed, swallowed and partially digested stick all over my living room carpet.  Yuck.  Yuck. Yuck.  Did I mention – yuck!!

the common beauties

August 12, 2009

I stepped outside my front door yesterday and this is what I saw…

Hubby and I are so blessed to have a home surrounded by woods and the only neighbors are of the woodland kind.  My absolute favorite thing is to sit on the back porch when a storm is blowing in and watch the tall pines dance back and forth.  The sound the wind makes as it passes through the pine trees is the most soothing sound on earth.

“Blessed is the man who can enjoy the small things, the common beauties, the little day by day events; sunshine on the fields, birds on the bough, breakfast, dinner, supper, a friend passing by.  So many people who go afield searching for happiness have left it behind back home.” – David Grayson
